Ametop Gel

A white semi-transparent gel containing 4%w/w of tetracaine.

Ingredients:

• Purified water
• Sodium chloride
• Potassium phosphate
• Xanthan gum (E415)
• Sodium hydroxide
• Sodium methyl and propyl-p-hydroxybenzoates (E217 and E219)

Product Information:

Each tube contains 1.5g of Ametop Gel from which 1g (40 mg tetracaine) can be squeezed.

Ametop Gel is a local anaesthetic which produces numbness of the skin. It is used to relieve the pain when needles are inserted into a vein for giving an injection or taking a blood sample.

The active ingredient in this medicine is tetracaine. This is the new name for amethocaine. The ingredient itself has not changed.

Contraindications:

Do not use Ametop Gel on:

• Wounds
• Broken skin
• Lips, mouth, or tongue
• Eyes or ears
• Anal and genital region
• Mucous membranes
