The goal of Movember Awareness Month is to increase awareness of men's Health issues such as men's mental health, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and incontinence. During Movember Awareness Month local campaigns are launched throughout the UK to both raise awareness and funds to pursue further research on particular men's health conditions to help find cures and more successful treatments.

The Importance of Movember Awareness Month

Since the launch of Movember Awareness Month in 2003, Movember has raised funds for more than 1,200 men’s health projects in the UK that challenge the status quo, shake up men’s health research, and transform the way health services reach and support men throughout the UK. This has helped to empower men to take a more proactive role in maintaining their health.

Male Urinary Incontinence – A Treatable Men’s Health Condition

Male urinary incontinence can be embarrassing and stressful, but the good news is that it is a treatable condition. In most cases, simple exercises and lifestyle changes can help to manage this condition. If these aren’t effective in controlling urinary incontinence, prescription medications can help to stop and manage incontinence. There are also many effective men's health products like pads and underwear options that can absorb wetness, so urine doesn’t get on clothing.

Causes of Male Incontinence

Male incontinence is often a result of certain medical conditions such as diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, an enlarged prostate, or occurring after prostate surgery. But sometimes it can develop for reasons like overactive bladder (OAB) that healthcare providers don't completely understand.  Before deciding on a treatment, your health provider must identify the root cause of your urinary incontinence.

How You Can Manage Symptoms

Urinary incontinence can be managed by following these lifestyle tips:

  •         Manage fluid intake.
  •         Adjust your diet.
  •         Reduce stress.
  •         Train your bladder.
  •         Track how often you urinate.
  •         Do exercises to strengthen pelvic muscles.
  •         Wear protective pads or underpants.
  •         Medication.
