Nizoral Dandruff Shampoo is for the treatment and prevention of dandruff and dry or greasy scaling of the scalp (seborrhoeic dermatitis). It has been specifically formulated to clear and control the yeasts associated with dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis. It also treats the inflammation associated with dandruff, relieving scalp redness and itching.
Dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis are associated with an increased number of yeasts called Malassezia (used to be called Pityrosporum). Seborrhoeic dermatitis can be thought of as a more severe kind of dandruff. Nizoral Dandruff Shampoo is one of a group of products called antifungal which are used to treat such conditions caused by yeasts.
